What do I need?
-
Our free printable activity sheet (download link above)
-
A clipboard (or just a book to rest the sheet on!)
-
Pen or pencil
-
A magnifying glass - useful for taking a closer look at the shell patterns and features.
-
An ID guide - our Garden Bugs and Beasties Guide can help with identifying some other common wildlife you may find along the way.
You can also take a tub or other container, if you would like to count how many of each species you find, just be sure to handle them gently and return them to where you found them afterwards.
Dig a little deeper...
Talk about and research snail life cycles, did you know that snails lay eggs? Have you ever seen them before?
What role do they play in the natural world? What animals use snails as a source of food?
